Dreaming of travelling is one thing, planning your trip is another. There are so many possibilities, things and places to see and so many cultures to learn about. Don’t even get me started on all the food you could taste!
Where should you even begin… Well, let me help out a little and give you a few tips when it comes to deciding on your next trip.
These are some of the things I find helpful for planning my future trips and staying inspired.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Nowadays social media is probably one of the biggest influences when it comes to getting travel ideas. A great way to start getting ideas on your next trip is to start saving travel posts of places you think you would like to visit.
If you have been doing that for a while already and have plenty of travel posts saved, you should start going through those saved posts and start digging deeper.
The thing about digital content, is that some of us are really good at making things look good in photos and videos, others may put minimal editing skills. Both options are perfectly fine. However, try to do more research with location-based hashtags to see all the different perspectives for your destination.
Personally, I love using hashtags with specific locations on Instagram or watching TikTok videos to see more photos and videos of the place – for getting a better full picture!
Another great social media platform is Pinterest for travel inspired content. The great thing about Pinterest, is that many travel bloggers use this platform to share travel blogs linked through their ‘pins’ -posts. Majority of the time, you may find a blog post linked to the ‘pin’ you liked. You can find many great and useful travel blogs on Pinterest to guide you on your trip planning and inspiration.
USING SKYSCANNER
This is probably one of my most used ways in helping me to decide where to travel next. A lot of the times I have specific dates in mind for travelling and I am unsure exactly where I would like to visit.
If you go to http://www.skyscanner.com, select ‘From‘ – your intended departure location and select ‘To – Everywhere‘ along with your intended departure dates. This will generate all available flights and destinations within those dates starting from cheapest to most expensive.
You now have an idea of available flights and prices according to your budget and dates. This is also a great way to keep an open mind to travel somewhere new that you haven’t initially planned or thought of.
Note: although Skyscanner is great for generating budget – friendly flight routes, I strongly recommend purchasing your tickets through airlines directly and not through Skyscanner third parties!
MAKE A BUCKET LIST
Lastly, don’t forget to keep ticking off your bucket list! When you make a bucket list, there is nothing more satisfying than ticking off all those boxes! This is a great way to visualize your travel goals and help you stay motivated and inspired for your future trips.
