LOCATION

Inch Hideaway is located in Whitegate Co. Cork, which is about 35km from Cork city. The campsite is relatively easy to find once you have google maps navigation. However, that being said, there are no nearby buses that stop by Inch Hideaway, therefore, ideally, you should have your means of transport. Be prepared for a short and scenic drive through the countryside!

Once you arrive, you will feel a peaceful and cheerful vibe reflected through the campsite. Colleen and Fabrizio have done an amazing job to make you feel right at home by creating a sense of familiarity. You will find many fun details, bright colors and furry friends!

Although the campsite is slightly isolated, you don’t have to drive far to find everything! You can find EUROSPAR less than 10 minute drive. Here you can do your shopping and enjoy a choice of fresh sandwiches, meals, and desserts!

For dining out, I highly recommend stopping by Rosies Bar! The bar has a great atmosphere and serves delicious food at a reasonable price. Rosies Bar is only a 4 minute drive from EUROSPAR.

If you want to do some day trips, first, I suggest checking out the beautiful Inch Beach, which is a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk from Inch Hideaway. Later, you can visit the famous Cobh town known to be the last Titanic stop!

CHECK-IN

The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free. Before your arrival, it’s a good idea to ring Colleen and notify her of your arrival time so she can greet you on time. However, if you forget to ring, most likely you can find Colleen or Fabrizio working around the campsite. Alternatively, you can also call in the reception area. You will then be shown to the Wanderly Wagon where they will go through everything you need to know, including some great dining recommendations and local activities!

On a side note, the Wanderly Wagon does not have a key to lock the door. However, the campsite feels very safe and secure! If you prefer to lock some of your important belongings, I suggest locking them in your car.

If you have any questions, Colleen and Fabrizio are always happy to help.

ROOMS

Inside the bus, you will be pleasantly surprised by the space and amenities provided! The bus feels fun and gives a sense of adventure. It will take you a few minutes to examine all the quirky details and clever touches!

At your entrance, you will find a small seating area by the front windscreen. This is a great spot to enjoy your meals, play card games and chill out! On the other end of the bus, you will find the compact kitchen. The owners did a great job incorporating all the essentials – 3 gas rings and cookware, a mini fridge, kettle, sink, cutlery, tableware, and kitchen towels. You can also find tea, honey, and a choice of seasoning for cooking!

At the rear end of the bus, there is a shower, toilet, and sink with a mirror. You’d be happy to know the shower and the sink in the kitchen both have hot water! Since the campsite is environmentally friendly, you will be provided with eco-friendly dish wash, shampoo, and body wash. Make sure to pack a towel!

Above the seating area of the double-decker, you can find the twin beds. If needed, you can easily adjust the beds and push them together. For your convenience, you have a small bedside table with a lamp and accessible plugs to charge your phone. On the opposite side of the bus above the kitchen, you will find a double bed. Again, a bedside table with a lamp and charging point can be found. The beds feel very comfortable and clean. Also, the clever use of the large decorative boxes in front of bedrooms creates a sense of barrier and privacy. This bus is ideal for sleeping 2-4 people.

One of my favorite additions to the bus is the wood-burning stove! You will be provided with wood and firelighters. Once you have the fire on, it takes little time to heat the whole bus and creates a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere! In the evening, the Wanderly Wagon feels especially magical with the wood burning. However, as the heat rises, it can get very hot in the bedrooms, I recommend letting the fire go out before you go to sleep, otherwise, it can get extremely hot.

Lastly, right outside the bus you can enjoy the picnic decking area!

OTHER ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

Apart from the Wanderly Wagon, you can also stay in one of the 5 impressive yurts! Each yurt is individually characterized and reflects a different vibe. The Sunset Yurt is one of the most spacious yurts on the campsite and can sleep up to 6 people. This yurt is available all year round. Meanwhile, the Mongolian Yurt is the latest addition to the site. This beautiful yurt is an original Mongolian yurt filled with relaxing touches of blue fabrics. Other yurts you can find are Fairy Fort Yurt, Woodland Yurt, and Moonlight Yurt!

All yurts have electricity and plugs for charging devices! If you want to know more about these unique yurts, find out more here!

SERVICE & FACILITIES

The Inch Hideaway can host many events for your family and friends! There is a stunning barn on site you can use as a venue hire. Inch Hideaway can host anything from weddings, and birthdays to various workshops! They also offer Yoga classes, Craniosacral therapy, guided tours, pizza/BBQ nights, and much more! Make sure to get in touch with Colleen and Fabrizio in advance to enquire about any of these activities and pricing.

On the campsite, you can find many enjoyable activities and relaxing areas. Enjoy the beautiful barn filled with games and books, communal sitting areas, a BBQ area, and a mini outdoor bar! There is also a fun swing and trampoline you can use. However, don’t forget to enjoy all the lovely farm animals! Doris the chubby cute pig, the two adorable dogs, Shadow and Tiger, and lastly the brave chicken’s Nugget and Curry! Being able to enjoy these animals has really made this trip even more special, as you will quickly fall in love with them!

If you need to connect to WIFI, the connection is quite limited and the reception is can be poor at times. However, Colleen can assist you in connecting to the Hideaway WIFI which is a lot better than using your data! On the contrary, this is a great opportunity to wind down and truly enjoy being in the countryside, away from technology. 🙂

Lastly, I will mention that if you are staying in any of the yurts, there is a communal kitchen and sitting area you can use. There are also shared showers and individual bathrooms assigned for each yurt. If you are staying in the Wanderly Wagon, you can also make use of these spaces if needed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This has to be one of my favorite stays in Ireland by far. I was very impressed by the amount of detail and cleverness incorporated on the campsite. Everything felt warm, welcoming, fun, and adventurous. It felt like you are in a completely different part of the world, away from your daily routine. I enjoyed the peacefulness around me and the company of all the sweet animals. Staying in The Wanderly Wagon felt like a unique and wonderful experience. One of the things I highly value about Inch Hideaway is the use of recycling, sustainability, and care for the environment.

I was eager to come back home and share this beautiful spot with my friends and family! Overall, I highly recommend visiting Inch Hideaway for an unforgettable weekend trip!
